How to play ping pong online with friends in RealTT
To play ping pong online with friends in RealTT, open Friends, go to Rooms and tap Create room. Pick the format and, if you like, a password, then share the link: whoever opens it lands right in your room, even in a browser. You can also add friends by code and call everyone online with Fast match.

Playing ping pong online with friends is the best part of any table tennis game. In RealTT, friend matches are live, one on one, with the same physics as Ranked, and they never use energy. You can call someone with a link in your group chat, or build a friends list and challenge whoever is online.
This guide shows both ways to play with friends in RealTT, step by step.
Two ways to play with friends
On the home screen, tap Friends. The screen has two tabs:
| Tab | What it is for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Friends | Playing the same people again and again | Add them by code or link, see who is online and challenge them |
| Rooms | Calling anyone, even people who are not your in-game friends yet | Create a room, share the link or code and play right away |

How to create a room and share the link
A room is the fastest way to play someone right now:
- In Friends, open the Rooms tab and tap Create room.
- Pick the Format: 1 game or Best of 3.
- If you want, set a Password. With no password, anyone with the link can join.
- Tap Create and share. The game shows the room code (in the format RTM-7KQ2) and the link.
- Tap Share to send it on WhatsApp or another app, or Copy link.
- Wait in the room. When your friend joins, the match starts by itself.
Whoever taps the link lands right in your room. Since RealTT runs in the browser, your friend does not need to install anything to play. If the room has a password, it goes along in the invite message.
Room rules
When you create a room, you can also set two things:
- Allowed levels: which game modes count in the room (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). A player in another mode is asked to switch to the highest allowed one; if they refuse, they cannot play.
- Speed: how fast both players move in the room, from 80% to 100%. 100% is the full speed of Advanced mode.
That way you can play on equal terms with someone who just started: both in the same mode, at the same speed. Not sure which mode to pick? See how to play RealTT.
How to join a room
If a friend sent you the link, just tap it. If they only sent the code:
- Open Friends and the Rooms tab.
- Tap Join.
- Type the code (for example RTM-7KQ2) and the password, if there is one.
The same tab lists Open rooms, with the host's name, the format and the rules of each one. Rooms with a lock need a password.
How to add friends
The Friends tab shows Your friend link and your code (something like JOAO-7K2Q). You can:
- tap Share link and send it to anyone you want to add;
- tap Add friend, type someone else's code and tap Send request.
Incoming requests show up under Requests. Once accepted, friends are listed under Online and Offline, and anyone playing shows as In match.
Fast match and challenges
Once your list is set, you have two shortcuts:
- Fast match: calls every online friend at once. The first one to accept plays.
- Challenge: tap the button next to a friend to call just them.
The invite pops up on your friend's screen with a timer to accept. Challenge matches are best of 3 games.
What you get for playing with friends
- No energy: friend matches never use energy, as the energy help page explains.
- Duo bonus: once a day, a live match with a friend gives both of you extra energy.
- Coins and history: matches go into your match history and give coins.
- Invite and earn: if your friend is new and starts playing through your link, you both get rewards after they play a few online matches.
Room matches do not count for LP. That is what Ranked is for. Leaving mid-match counts as a loss, and if someone crosses the line, you can Report or Block player from their profile. See also the play with friends help page.
Frequently asked questions
How do I play ping pong online with friends?
In RealTT, open Friends, go to the Rooms tab, tap Create room and send the link to your friend. When they join, the match starts.
Does my friend need to download the game?
No. RealTT runs in the browser, so the room link opens the game directly. The Android and iOS apps are coming soon.
Does playing with friends use energy?
No. Friend and room matches never use energy.
Can I play a friend who uses a different game mode?
